Zilla Slabis a free to use,open sourceslab seriffont commissioned by theMozilla Foundation[2]as a part of theirrebrandingprocess from mid-2016 to 2017.[3][4][5]It was created in 2017 byPeter Biľakand Nikola Djurek,[2]typeface designers for theTypothequefoundry. It is inspired by theTesla Slabfont,[6][2]also originally designed by Typotheque. Its variant, Zilla Slab Highlight, features a uniqueligaturein its bold weight, where the character sequence "mozilla" will turn into "moz://a", purposely intended for using the stylized Mozilla wordmark.[2]

Usage

Zilla Slab is used as the branding font forMozilla Foundation,featured in its logo as well as their other products and projects, such asMDN Web DocsandCommon Voice,alongside Inter and Metropolis.[7][8]

As of February 21, 2018, Ohio University started using Zilla Slab as their secondary font of choice.[9]

Zilla Slab is available onGitHub,[10]Google Fonts,[11]and through Mozilla'sCDN.[12]Its variant, Zilla Slab Highlight, is also sourced in the same GitHub repository, and available on Google Fonts as well.[13]
