Mile Akmadžić(born 1 October 1939) is aBosnian Croatformer politician who served asPrime Ministerof theRepublic of Bosnia and Herzegovinafrom 1992 to 1993, during theBosnian War.

Early career

Akmadžić was born inGrude,PR Bosnia and Herzegovina,FPR Yugoslaviaon 1 October 1939.[1]From 1964 through 1978, he worked forEnergoinvest,managing international relations. He was an organizer for the1984 Winter OlympicsinSarajevo,where he received hisBSin 1965 from theUniversity of Sarajevo.

Political career

Akmadžić served as Chief of Staff to thePresidency of Bosnia and Herzegovinafrom 1991 to 1992, having already served in the Presidency since 1978.[2]He was an adviser and secretary toAlija Izetbegović,the firstpresident of the Presidencyof the newly independentRepublic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.Akmadžić was one of the Croat delegates in thepeace plan negotiations during the Bosnian war.

On 9 November 1992, he was appointedPrime Ministerof the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, followingJure Pelivan's resignation.[3]Akmadžić was succeeded as prime minister byHaris Silajdžićon 25 October 1993.

Personal life

Akmadžić and his wife Mijana have two children, Ornela and Hrvoje. He speaksEnglishandGermanfluently.[4]
