Nestor Makhno (1921)

Nestor Ivanovych Makhno(7 November 1888-25 July 1934) was a Ukrainiananarchistrevolutionaryand the commander of theRevolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraineduring theUkrainian Civil War.He established theMakhnovshchina(loosely translated as "Makhno movement" ), amass movementby the Ukrainian peasantry to establishanarchist communismin the country between 1918 and 1921. Initially centered around Makhno's home province ofKaterynoslavand hometown,Huliaipole,it came to exert a strong influence over large areas ofsouthern Ukraine,specifically in what is nowZaporizhzhia Oblastof Ukraine.
