Suvendu Adhikari(born 15 December 1970) is an Indian politician from theBharatiya Janata Partywho is the current Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from 10 May 2021. He is a member of theWest Bengal Legislative Assemblyfrom Nandigram since May 2021 having defeated his opponent incumbent Chief MinisterMamata Banerjeeby 1956 votes. He previously served as the Minister of Transport, Irrigation and Water resource inWest Bengal.He was amemberof the15th Lok Sabhaand the16th Lok Sabha(2014-2016), as anAll India Trinamool Congresscandidate, fromTamluk.
