[edit]Internationalism. Borrowed from Russian дека́брь (dekábrʹ); itself from Old East Slavic декѧбрь (dekębrĭ), from Old Church Slavonic декѧбрь (dekębrĭ), from Byzantine Greek Δεκέμβριος (Dekémbrios).
Ultimately from Latin december, from decem + Latin -ber, from -bris, an adjectival suffix.
