William Henry Harvey(5 de febrero de 1811,Summerville- 15 de mayo de 1866,Torquay) fue unmédicoybotánicoirlandés.
Obtiene su título de doctor enmedicinaen 1844, enDublín.Fue tesorero colonial enciudad del Cabode 1836 a 1842 donde recolecta muchos especímenes vegetales.
En 1844, es curador delherbariodel "Colegio Trinity de Dublín", y, en 1848, profesor debotánicaen la "Sociedad Real de Dublín", y, en 1856, en el "Colegio Trinity".
De 1854 a 1856, exploraCeilán,y el oeste deAustralia,enTasmania...
En 1857 es nombrado miembro de laSociedad linneana de Londresy de laRoyal Societyel 3 de junio de 1858.
Se interesa particularmente de lasalgasmarinas. Harvey se opuso a la teoría de la evolución propuesta porCharles Darwin(1809-1882).
