Oxfordeko Unibertsitateanikasi zuen. Oxfordeko Unibertsitatean ikasi zuen. HanOscar WildeetaAubrey Beardsleyezagutu zituen eta literatur zirkuluetan sartu zen.
1894an bere nortasuna garatu zuendandyeta umorista gisa. Saiakerak eta fikziozko lanak argitaratzen hasi zen.
