Biographie
[modifier|modifier le code]Thomas Eekman est le fils de Thomas Adam Eekman et Anna de Kruijff[1].Il est le neveu du peintreNicolas Eekman.
Il est un spécialiste de lalittérature russe,ayant travaillé notamment surAnton Tchekhov,Léon Tolstoï,Ivan Tourgueniev,Mikhaïl LermontovetNicolas Gogol.Il a aussi publié un ouvrage sur le philosophe russeAlexandre Herzen.
Il a été professeur à l'Université d'Amsterdamde 1960 à 1966, ainsi qu'à l'Université de CalifornieàLos Angeles.
Il a reçu lePrix Martinus-Nijhoffen 1981 pour ses traductions du russe en néerlandais.
