Lacoenzyme B,abrégée enCoB–SH,in extenso7-mercaptoheptanoylthréonine phosphate, est unecoenzymeintervenant dans lesréactions d'oxydo-réductionde laméthanogenèsechez lesarchéesméthanogènes[2].La molécule contient un groupementthiol–SH, qui est le principal site réactionnel.
La coenzyme B réagit avec laméthyl-coenzyme Mafin de libérer leméthanelors de laméthanogenèse[3]:
Cette réaction est catalysée par laméthyl-coenzyme M réductase,avec lecofacteurF430commegroupement prosthétique.
Une réaction apparentée, utilisant à la fois CoB–SH et CoM–SH, est la réduction dufumarateensuccinate,catalyséepar lafumarate réductase[4]:
- CoB–SH +HS–CoM+−OOC–CH=CH–COO−→ CoB-S-S-CoM +−OOC–CH2–CH2–COO−.
