General Information

Introducing the IMDb API!

We are happy to announce that the IMDb API is now live! The IMDb API is powered by AWS Data Exchange, bringing the entertainment information you need in a convenient GraphQL-based API to help you utilize the world's most authoritative source of Movie, TV/OTT, Box Office data and more! To request a free trial, please visitIMDb's AWS Marketplace.

Benefits of the new API include:
    • Hands-on support. As you integrate and test with the API, you’ll get tailored support from IMDb technical staff
    • Simplified data structure.JSON payloads (no more XML!)
    • One call, all data. You only need to make calls to a single URL (no more messing around with URL parameters or concatenating parameters)
    • Get only what you need.Just request the fields you want, get back what you requested. No more over-fetching or under-fetching
    • Multiple entities in one request.Request data for multiple titles/names in the same query (e.g.runtimesfor allepisodes in a series, ormajor awardsfor aspecificlist of films/actresses)
    • Use what we use.Consume the same data that’s powering both the IMDb website and mobile apps.
    • Industry-standard solutions.IMDb APIs use well-established (and secure) AWS services (e.g. APIG) and not proprietary APIs. This comes with lots of documentation and examples, and makes it easier to find solutions to common problems.

We’ve put together a few resources here to help you familiarize yourself with the new product and get the most out of your participation.
