William Smith "Bill" Monroe(/mənˈroʊ/;13 September 1911 – 9 September 1996) adalah seorang pemainmandolin,penyanyi,danpenulis laguAmerika yang membuat gaya musik yang dikenal sebagaibluegrass.Karena itu, ia umum disebut sebagai "Bapak Bluegrass".[1]Genre tersebut mengambil nama dari bandnya,Blue Grass Boys,yang mengambil nama dari negara bagian kampung halaman MonroeKentucky.Karier pentas Monroe berjalan selama 69 tahun sebagai penyanyi, instrumentalis, komposer dan ketua band.
