Roy Claxton Acuff(Maynardville,15 settembre1903–Nashville,23 novembre1992) è stato uncantantestatunitense.
Conosciuto con il nome diKing of Country Music[1],è considerato uno dei più importanti interpreti dimusica country[2],avendo trasportato il country dalla sua vecchia forma folkloristica delle origini a una nuova forma più popolare, influenzando molti importanti artisti di tale genere venuti dopo di lui[3].
Biografia
[modifica|modifica wikitesto]Colpito daipertermianel1929e da un attacco nervoso nel1930,dovette riporre il suo sogno di giocare con iNew York Yankees,e si dedicò allamusica country,debuttando comesolistanel1936. Nel1944e nel1948si candidò senza successo comegovernatoredelTennesseeper ilPartito Repubblicano.
Fu iniziato inMassonerial'11 ottobre 1943 nellaEast Nashville LodgeNo. 560 diNashville,passò compagno il 10 gennaio 1944 e divenne maestro il 21 febbraio 1944. Nel 1944 entrò nelRito scozzese antico ed accettatoe divenne membro del CapitoloG. CorbittNo. 147 di Nashville[4].
