What if my account name changes or is different from my ID?
To better protect those who publish with us and buy books on Amazon, we may ask you to verify your identity. If requested, identity verification requires you to submit a government-issued ID, such as a passport or driver’s license. The name in your KDP account must match the name on your ID. For corporations and non-individual entities (e.g., LLC or agency), you’ll enter the details of an authorized representative for your business.
For individuals
If your legal name has recently changed and your ID hasn’t been updated, you should:- Continue to use (or enter) your personal details from your ID in your KDP account.
- Complete the identity verification process.
- Once your ID is updated to reflect your new name, log into your KDP account. Click Your account > Your identity.
- Update your identity details and then re-verify, using your new ID.
For individuals using pen names
You can use a pen name to publish books on KDP. However, your current legal name should be entered within the Your account > Your identity page, so we can verify your identity. When creating a book, you can enter the pen name you want to use within the author field. For businesses
If the authorized representative for your business has changed:- Log into KDP.
- Go to Your account > Your identity.
- Update the identity using the details of the new authorized representative.
- Verify the identity of that representative.
