മഡഗാസ്കറിന്റെ തനതു ജൈവവൈവിധ്യത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്ലീമറുകൾ.പ്രൈമേറ്റുകളിൽതാഴ്ന്ന ഇനങ്ങളായ ഇവയ്ക്ക് കുരങ്ങുകൾക്കു സമാനമായ രോമാവൃത ശരീരവും നീളൻ വാലുമുണ്ട്. ഏകദേശം 100 സ്പീഷീസുകൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളവയിൽ ഏറിയ പങ്കും വംശനാശത്തിന്റെ വക്കിലാണ്.ഇയോസീൻ,പാലിയോസീൻഎന്നീ കാലഘട്ടങ്ങളിൽ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലാണ് ഇവ ഉടലെടുത്തതെന്നു കരുതുന്നു. പക്ഷേ മഡഗാസ്കറിൽ മാത്രമാണ് ഈ ജീവിവർഗ്ഗം ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളത്.[2].
