Odd Arne Westad(født5. januar1960iÅlesund) er ennorskhistorikersom er professor vedYale University.[4]Hans spesialfelter er blant andreden kalde krigenog nyere østasiatisk historie. Han var tidligere professor vedHarvard University[5],og var tidligere professor vedLondon School of Economics and Political Science(LSE).[6]
Westad studerte vedUniversitetet i OsloogUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Han ble forskningsdirektør vedDet norske Nobelinstituttog førsteamanuensis i historie ved Universitetet i Oslo i 1991. I 1998 ble han tilknyttetInternational History Departmentved LSE, der han også virket vedLSE Asia Research Centrefør han ble avdelingsleder i 2003.[7]
Westad ble medlem avBritish Academyi 2011.[8]I 2016 ble han valg inn iDet Norske Videnskaps-Akademii gruppe for historie[9]
Han uttalte i mars 2022 at Russlands invasjon av Ukraina minner om opptakten til første verdenskrig.[10]
