É especializada na história daRevolução Francesa,mas também reconhecida por seu trabalho com enfoque degêneroe emhistória cultural.[2]Seu trabalho de 2007,Inventing Human Rights,foi considerado a análise mais abrangente dahistória dos direitos humanos.No ano de 2002 Lynn Hunt foi presidente daAmerican Historical Association.[3]
Biografia
editarNascida noPanamáe criada emSt. Paul,emMinessota,nosEstados Unidos,ela graduou-se noCarleton College(1967) e concluiu seu mestrado (1968) e doutorado (1973) naUniversidade Stanford.Lecionou naUniversidade da Califórnia, Berkeley(1974–1987), naUniversidade da Pensilvânia(1987–1998) e na Universidade da Califórnia em Los Angeles.[4]
Hunt ensina história daFrança,daEuropaehistória da históriacomo disciplina acadêmica. Suas especialidades incluem aRevolução Francesa,história das mulheres,história culturalehistoriografia.Em seus projetos de pesquisa atuais incluem-se um estudo colaborativo de uma obra do início doséculo XVIIIsobrereligião comparada,que apareceu em 7 volumes com 275 gravuras do artistaBernard Picart.[5]
Em 1982, Hunt recebeu umabolsa Guggenheimpara estudar História da França.[6]
Em 2014, ela foi eleitaMembro Correspondente da British Academy.[7]
