Elisha Gray(2 de agostode1835-21 de janeirode1901) foi umengenheiro eletricistaestadunidense que co-fundou aWestern Electric Manufacturing Company.Gray é mais conhecido pelo desenvolvimento de um protótipo detelefoneem1876emHighland Park,Illinoise é considerado por alguns autores[2]como sendo o verdadeiro inventor do telefone de resistência variável, apesar de perder paraAlexander Graham Bellapatentedo telefone.
Gray é também considerado o "pai" dosmodernos sintetizadoresde música,[3]e obteve mais de 70 patentes de suas invenções.[4]
