Jericho's Arabic name,Ārīḥā,means "fragrant" an derives frae theCanaanitewirdReah,o the same meanin.[8][9][10][11]Jericho's name inEbreu,Yəriḥo,is an aa thocht tae derive frae that ruit, though an alternative theory haulds that it is derived frae the wird meanin "muin" (Yareah) in Canaanite, as the ceety wis an early centre o worship forlunardeities.[12]
