Džejms D. Votson(engl.James Watson) (rođen6. 4.a1928) je američkimolekularni biolog,genetičar,izoolog.On je najbolje poznat po otkriću struktureDNK1953.zajedno saFransisom Krikom.Votson, Krik, iMoris Vilkinssu nagrađeni1962.Nobelovom nagradom za fiziologiju ili medicinu„za njihova otkrića vezana za molekulsku strukturunukleinskih kiselinai njihovog značaja za transfer informacija u živim materijalima “.[2]Nakon studija nauniverzitetu ČikagaiIndijana univerzitetu,on je radio nauniverzitetu u KembridžuuKavendišovoj laboratorijiuEngleskoj,gde se upoznao sa budućim saradnikom i prijateljomFransisom Krikom.
2019 su mu zbog "rasističkih opaski" oduzete sve počasne titule koje je dobio u Kold Spring Harbor laboratoriji (CSHL), gde je radio skoro 40 godina[3].
