The26thG8Summitwas a meeting in 2000 for the leaders of Canada, the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.[1]

This meeting of theGroup of Eight(G8) was the 26th meeting in a series which began in 1976. The G8 and the summit are part of a "consultative process and not an international organization".[2]

The meeting took place inJapanatNahaon the sothern island ofOkinawa.Theinternationalgroup of leaders were together from July 21-23, 2000.
