Arthur Ashkin(September 2, 1922 – September 21, 2020) was an American scientist of Jewish descent. He worked atBell LaboratoriesandLucent Technologies.He was the second oldest Nobel Laureate in history, behindJohn B. Goodenough.He was known for his invention ofoptical tweezersin 1986.[1][2][3]For his works, he was awarded theNobel Prize in Physicsin 2018.
Ashkin died on September 21, 2020 at his home inRumson,New Jerseyat the age of 98.[4]
