TheApollo command and service module(CSM) was one of two spacecraft, along with theLunar Module,used for theUnited StatesApollo programwhich landedastronautson theMoon.[1]It was built forNASAbyNorth American Aviation.It was launched by itself on three suborbital andlow Earth orbitApollo test missions using theSaturn Ilaunch vehicle. It was also launched twelve times on the largerSaturn Vlaunch vehicle, both by itself and with the Lunar Module. It made a total of nine manned flights to the Moon boosted by the Saturn V.
