Close vowel

Aclose vowel,also called ahigh vowel,[1]is a type ofvowel.It is used in many spokenlanguages.When you say a close vowel, yourtongueis very close to the top of yourmouth.It isn't touching the top, however, because if it were to touch the top of your mouth, it would be called aconsonant.

"Close"/ˈkls/is recommended by the International Phonetic Association. InAmerica,however, they are called high vowels.[2]
