Eicosanoids(oricosanoids) arehormonesmade oflipids.They aresignaling moleculesmade by theoxidationof 20-carbonfatty acids.

They have control over many bodily systems. They influencegrowthduring and after physical activity,inflammationorimmunityafter the intake oftoxiccompounds andpathogens.They are also messengers in thecentral nervous system.

The networks of controls that depend upon eicosanoids are among the most complex in the human body.[1]
