Elvin Ray Jones(September 9, 1927 – May 18, 2004) was an American jazz drummer of thepost-bopera.[1]

From 1960 to 1966, he was a member of theJohn Coltranequartet. His brothersHank JonesandThad Joneswere also jazz musicians with whom he recorded.[1]He was added into theModern DrummerHall of Fame in 1995.[2]
