Kegon Falls( hoa nghiêm lungKegon no Taki) is awaterfallinJapaninNikkō National ParkinTochigi Prefectureon the island ofHonshū.It is fed byLake Chūzenji,which is thesourceof theOshiri Riverwhich flows through this waterfall. The waterfall is 97 metres (318 ft) high. The Kegon Falls and Nikkō National Park are one of the most famous and popular places in Japan. Thousands of people visit each year. In 1927, the Kegon Falls wasrecognizedas one of the"Eight Views"which best showed Japan and its culture in theShōwa period.[1]
The waterfall is alsoinfamousforsuicides,especially among Japaneseyouth(Werther Effect).[2]
