Middlesbroughis a largetowninNorth Yorkshirein northeastEngland.About 135,000 people live there. It is in the traditionalNorth Riding of Yorkshire.

Middlesbrough was formerly administered as part of thecounty boroughofTeesside,later the county ofCleveland,and it is now in theunitary authorityof theBorough of Middlesbrough.St Mary's Cathedral is the seat of the bishop of Middlesbrough.

The name is often spelt incorrectly as 'Middlesborough' but 'Middlesbrough' is correct. The town is abbreviated to Boro by locals.
