Moorgate stationis a centralLondonNational RailandLondon Undergroundstation in theCity of London.It is onMoorgate,north ofLondon Wall.At one time the station was named "Moorgate Street". It is thecentral London railway terminusfor suburbanFirst Capital Connectservices fromHertford,Welwyn Garden CityandLetchworth.Until March 2009 it was also a terminus for trains on theThameslinkline, also run by First Capital Connect. It is the site of theMoorgate tube crashof 1975 in which 46 people were killed and 74 were injured.[7]

The Underground station is on the Bank branch of theNorthern linebetweenOld StreetandBank,and also on theCircle,Hammersmith & CityandMetropolitan lines,betweenBarbicanandLiverpool Street.
