Order of Charles III

TheRoyal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III,originallyRoyal and Much Distinguished Order of Charles III(Spanish:Real y Distinguida Orden Española de Carlos III,originallySpanish:Real y Muy Distinguida Orden de Carlos III) was created by theKing of Spain Carlos IIIwith the mottoVirtuti et mérito.

It honors people for their actions benefiting Spain and the Crown. Since its creation, and second to theOrder of the Golden Fleece,it has been the most distinguished civil award that can be given in Spain.^[1]
