Precipitationis the falling of water from theatmosphere.It is a term inmeteorology,and includesrain,snow,sleet,ice pellets,dew,frost,andhail.These form bycondensationfrom atmosphericwater vapor,and fall undergravity.

Fogandmistare not precipitation butsuspensions.In that case, the water vapor does not condense sufficiently to precipitate.

If liquid, precipitation can be measured using arain gauge.The most common form of solid precipitation issnow.Snow is made when temperatures are so cold that water vapor changes directly tosolidcrystals. Frozen rain ishailorice pellets.
