Roy Jay Glauber(September 1, 1925 – December 26, 2018) was an American theoreticalphysicist.He was theMallinckrodtProfessorofPhysicsatHarvard Universityand Adjunct Professor of Optical Sciences at theUniversity of Arizona.
Glauber was awarded one half of the 2005Nobel Prize in Physics"for his contribution to the quantum theory ofoptical coherence",with the other half shared byJohn L. HallandTheodor W. Hänsch.
Glauber died on December 26, 2018 at a hospital inNewton, Massachusettsat the age of 93.[3]
