Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel(March 18,1858–September 30,1913) was aGermanengineerandinventor.His best known invention isDiesel engine.He was born inParisand died on theEnglish Channel.
He had the idea to develop anenginewhich relied on a highcompressionof the fuel toigniteit. With this he could do without aspark.The technique with a spark was developed byNiklaus Otto.The engine based on this is calledinternal combustion engine.
In1892he got apatentfor the engine.
He got a lot of money from licensing his invention.
