Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, 1st Marquess of Dalí of PúbolgcYC(/ˈdɑːli,dɑːˈl/;[1]Catalan:[səlβ̞əˈð̞o dəˈli];Spanish:[salβ̞aˈð̞oɾ daˈli];[2]11 May 1904 – 23 January 1989) was aSpanishpainterwho became famous for the unusual images he used in his paintings. He was born inFigueres,Catalonia, Spain. He was a key figure insurrealistart.[3]

His most famous work wasThe Persistence of Memory(1931), which is now inMoMA,theMuseum of Modern ArtinNew York.It is adream-likelandscapewith a soft,meltedpocket-watch.[4]

Dalí died of a Cardiac arrest on January 23, 1989 in Catalonia, Spain. Salvador Dalí had a wife called Gala Dalí.
