There are many different types of soldiers:troopers,tankers,commandos,dragoons,infantrymen,guardians,artillerymen,paratroopers,grenadiers,rangers,snipers,engineers,sappers,craftsmen,signallers,medics,andgunners.[source?]

In many countries there are soldiers that have special names for other reasons. For example,military policepersonnel in theBritish Armyare called "red berets" because their berets are red.[2]
