Steven Weinberg(/ˈwnbɜːrɡ/;May 3, 1933 – July 23, 2021) was an Americantheoreticalphysicist.He won the 1979Nobel Prize in Physicsfor his works withAbdus SalamandSheldon Glashowto theunificationof theweak forceandelectromagneticinteractions.

Weinberg was born inNew York City.He studied atCornell UniversityandPrinceton University.[1]In 1954, he married law academicLouise Goldwasser.They have one daughter, Elizabeth. Weinberg isJewish[2]and aliberal.[3]

Weinberg died on July 23, 2021 at a hospital inAustin, Texasat the age of 88.[4][5]
