The Maritimes
The Maritimesor theMaritime Provinces,is aregionofEasternCanadawith threeprovinces:New Brunswick,Nova Scotia,andPrince Edward Island.
Some people have proposed merging all three provinces into a single province called theMaritime Union.
BothGreat BritainandFrancesettled the area in the 17th century.[1]After theFrench and Indian War,the British ruled the entire area.[2]TheCharlottetown Conferencewas held in 1864 inCharlottetown,Prince Edward Island.The Conference was about the variouscoloniesofBritish North Americaforming theCanadian Confederation.
