Trafficking of children
Trafficking of childrenis a form ofhuman trafficking:Violenceandthreatsare used to recruit them, or they arekidnapped.They are then trafficked.
Purposes
[change|change source]Trafficking children has several purposes:
- Forcing them to work (this includesslavery,anddebt bondage)
- Sexuallyexploiting them (this includesprostitutionand childpornography)
- Using them for work that is illegal (for example, asbeggars,ordrug dealers)
- Adoption
- Forced marriage
It is difficult to get exact numbers, but theInternational Labour Organizationestimated that about 1.2 million children are trafficked per year.[1]
Like human trafficking, trafficking of children is acrime.[2]
