Yoshinori Ohsumi(Đại ngung lương điển,Ōsumi Yoshinori)(born 9 February 1945) is aJapanesecell biologist.He won the 2016Physiology or Medicinefor his discoveries of howcellautophagyworks.[1]

Autophagy is the process thatcellsuse to break down and recycle cellular components. This allows the orderly recycling of cellular components.[2][3]

Ohsumi is a professor inTokyo Institute of Technology's Frontier Research Center.[4]He got theKyoto Prizefor Basic Science in 2012.[5]
