Chaz Salvatore Bono[1](BornChastity Sun Bono;March 4, 1969) is anAmericanactorand is aspokespersonfor theGay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.HedancedonABC'sDancing With the Stars.[2]
In 1995, Chaz, who still appeared female at the time, told The Advocate that he was alesbian.[3] In 2008 Bono started hisgender transitionfrom female to male.[4]
He is the son ofSonnyandCherBono.[5][6]He is a female-to-male transgender person. Adocumentaryon Bono's experience,Becoming Chaz,was at the 2011Sundance Film Festival.It was later on theOWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.[7]
