Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa(born 17 November 1952) is a South African politician. He is the 5th and currentPresident of South Africasince the resignation ofJacob Zumaon 14 February 2018.

Ramaphosa was an anti-apartheid activist, trade union leader and businessman.[1]Ramaphosa served asDeputy President of South Africaunder Zuma from 2014 to 2018.[2]He was elected as President of theAfrican National Congress(ANC) at theANC National ConferenceinNasrec,South of Johannesburg in December 2017.

On February 10, 2020, Ramaphosa becameChairperson of the African Union.He was succeeded by Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi on February 6, 2021.

On 19 December 2022, it was announced that the ANC's 55th National Conference had elected Ramaphosa to a second term as president of the ANC. On 14 June 2024, the National Assembly of South Africa would elect Ramaphosa to a second term as president of South Africa.
