Feodor Felix Konrad LynenForMemRS(6 April 1911 – 6 August 1979) was aGermanbiochemist.

He is best known for his discoveries with the mechanism and regulation ofcholesterolandfatty acid metabolism.[2]He won theNobel Prize in Physiology or Medicinein 1956 "for their discoveries concerning the mechanism and regulation of the cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism". He shared the prize withKonrad Bloch.[3]

He died in Munich, Germany on 6 August 1979 six weeks after he had an operation for ananeurysm.[4]He was married to Eva Wieland, and they had five children.[3]
