Patricia Lynn"Patty"Murray(néeJohns;October 11, 1950) is thesenior United States SenatorfromWashington.She is a member of theDemocratic Party.
Murray was first elected to the Senate in 1992, becoming Washington's first female senator. She was re-elected in 1998, 2004 and 2010.
WithPatrick Leahy's retirement, Murray became theSenate President pro temporein the118th Congress,becoming the first female to hold the position in history.[1]
