The city has a famoussnowfestivalin winter, it has a growingpopulationof about 1,800,000people.Its area is 110,000 square kilometres (42,000 sq mi). There are a lot of fish markets in Sapporo. Abeerbrand named "Sapporo" was named after this city.Ramenis a very popular food in Sapporo. The city has a subway system. Some famous landmarks are theSapporo TV Tower,and theclock towerthat is in the center of the city. There are several universities here, includingHokkaido University.The nearby airport is calledNew Chitose Airport.
