Asatellite stateis an officiallyindependentcountrythat is stronglyinfluencedorcontrolledby another country.[1] Unlikepuppet states,satellite states are generallyinternationally recognizedby most countries, as most of them were alreadyindependentcountries, which later came under the influence of more powerful countries.Examplesof satellite states include theWarsaw Pactcountries which were calledSoviet satellite states,because they were influenced by theSoviet Union.Belarusis currently a satellite state ofRussia.[2][better source needed]
