Shootingis when arifle,shotgunor other weapons which fire aprojectile,such asbowsorcrossbows,are fired. Even the firing ofartillery,rocketsandmissilescan be called shooting. A person who is very good at shooting is amarksman.Shooting can take place in ashooting rangeor in the field inhunting,inshooting sportsor incombat.Shooting is also anOlympicsport.

Shooting is used forhuntingbirds such asgrouseorpheasant,rabbitsetc. Sometimes "shooting" just means "hunting".

Shooting is also used inwarfare,self-defense,crime,andlaw enforcement.When someone shoots random innocent people it is sometimes caused bymisanthropy(hate for humans).

Competitive shooting[change|change source]

In several countries, rifle clubs have been made since the 19th century. Soon, international shooting events were started, includingshooting at the Summer Olympics(from 1896) andWorld Championships(from 1897). TheInternational Shooting Sport Federationis in charge of Olympic and non-Olympic rifle, pistol and shotgun competitions. However, there are also many national and international shooting sports which other organisations are in charge of.
