Space Invadersis avideo gamemade by theTaito Corporation.Space Invadersis one of the most famous early video games. The game is about defending theEarthfrom Space Invaders (aliens) by shooting them down before they can land. There have been seven versions ofSpace Invadersmade by the Taito Corporation.Space Invaderswas designed by the Taito Corporations man in charge of the game making department, Toshihiro Nishikado. Nishikado was inspired to make the game after watchingStar WarsandWar of the Worlds.At firstSpace Invaderswas a coin-operatedmachinebut has been made available for almost everygames consoleandhome computer.Before makingSpace Invaders,Nishikado worked on games calledSoccerandInterceptor.He says the hardest part of making a video game is designing the computer inside it. Taito describesSpace Invadersas "an international phenomenon".
