Daniel Smart "Dan" Fante(February 19, 1944 – November 23, 2015) was anAmericanauthor and playwright. He was born inLos Angeles,Californiato a family ofItalianimmigrants.

He was known for his playsChump Change,Mooch,86'dandSpitting Off Tall Buildings.His father was writerJohn Fante.He was also the author ofA Gin-Pissing-Raw-Meat-Dual-Carburetor-V8-Son-Of-A-Bitch From Los Angeles,a volume of poetry onWrecking Ball Press.

Fante died ofcancerin Los Angeles, aged 71.[1][2]
