Daniel Aaron(August 4, 1912 – April 30, 2016) was anAmericanwriter and academic. He was born inChicago,Illinois.He helped found theLibrary of Americain 1979.[1]He served as president until 1985. He was later a board member and remained an emeritus board member.[2][3]His latest work is an autobiography,The Americanist(2007). He taught atSmith Collegefrom 1971 through 1980.

Aaron died inCambridge, Massachusettson April 30, 2016 from complications ofpneumonia,aged 103.[4]
