మూస:Cite doi
Perconsensus,this template should no longer be used. Instead, please use the {{cite journal|doi=}} template. |
PerWP:CITEVAR,only use this template in articles whose references are formatted as described below. Pleasedo not usethe cite doi template in articles whose references are formatted differently. |
Usage
[మార్చు]Saves you filling out a citation template every time you want to cite a journal article. If your source article has adigital object identifier(DOI), just enter{{Cite doi|doi of your source}}
.There is no need tosubstthis template (so long as it matches the format of citations already in the article).
If another Wikipedia article already uses that reference (via the Cite doi template), it will automatically use the existing information to present the full citation details of the reference in the article. If not, a bot will complete it for you if you click the "jump the queue" link (the bot does not currently autofill the template).
Use like this:
<ref name= "Example2006" >{{Cite doi|10.1146/annurev.earth.33.092203.122621}}</ref>
To refer to the same reference elsewhere in the same article, use:
<ref name= "Example2006" />
Quotes
[మార్చు]To include a quote from the reference, just place it inside thereftags. To include more than one quote, thenameparameter must be unique for eachreftag.
<ref name= "Example2006a" >{{Cite doi|10.1146/annurev.earth.33.092203.122621}} "A sample quote" </ref>
[1]
<ref name= "Example2006b" >{{Cite doi|10.1146/annurev.earth.33.092203.122621}} "Another sample quote" </ref>
[2]
Second references for each
If the quote should appear every time a reference is used, then add aquoteparameter to the cite doi template.
Removing the "edit" link
[మార్చు]If you want to remove the "edit" link that this template places, add a second parameter with the text "noedit":
<ref name= "Example2006c" >{{Cite doi|10.1146/annurev.earth.33.092203.122621|noedit}}</ref>
[3]
Modifying display of authors
[మార్చు]The number of authors displayed can be modified by adding a "displayauthors = n" parameter:
<ref>{{Cite doi/sandbox|10.1140/epja/i2006-10091-y}}</ref>
[4]<ref>{{Cite doi/sandbox|10.1140/epja/i2006-10091-y|displayauthors=6}}</ref>
[5]
and follow the edit link in the template and insert the following "pass through" parameter into the cite doi template:
|displayauthors={{{displayauthors|}}}
The authors can be displayed in aVancouver systemformat by adding a "van=yes" parameter:
<ref>{{Cite doi/sandbox|10.1140/epja/i2006-10091-y|displayauthors=6|van=yes}}</ref>
[6]
and follow the edit link in the template and insert the following "pass through" parameters into the cite doi template:
|displayauthors={{{displayauthors|}}} |authorformat={{{authorformat|}}} |author-separator={{{author-separator|}}} |author-name-separator={{{author-name-separator|}}}

Formatting
[మార్చు]Templates produced via theCite doi
template need to be formatted consistently so they match the reference formatting of all the articles in which they are used. Therefore, they are formatted under the following guidelines. The correct formatting is maintained byCitation bot.Pleasedo not usetheCite doi
template in articles whose references are formatted differently. (You could subst: the template and change its formatting in the article, or modify the article to use this mode of formattingif appropriate).
- Citation template
- Template:Cite journal
- Author formatting
- Smith, A. B. (not "Smith, Arthur Brown"; initial separated by a single space)
- The usual guidelines for wikilinking apply: only use
|author1-link=
if the link adds value to the citation. - Page number formatting
- first and last page numbers written in full; for instance, R100–R101
- Dates
- If a month or season may help locate a journal article, specify it with the
|date=
parameter (e.g.|date=Sep 2009
or|date=Winter 1988
). Do not specify the|day=
or|month=
parameters. - Links
- The URL should point to (in descending order of preference):
- Free access to the full text of the article on the publisher's Web site
- Free full text on an author's Web site (if no copyright issues)
- Free full text on an advert-supported Web site
- Free proofs/drafts on an author's personal Web site (if no copyright issues)
- Avoid adding links to articles located behind a paywall. The DOI link already takes care of that.
As a further point, unnecessary whitespace in Cite doi templates should be avoided.
