"Let's focus on the positives here—while Project Lazarus may have resulted in planetwide chaos and misery for both Nebulos and Cybertron, at least Stylor got to go home, eh?"

Following theAutobots' andDecepticons' battles on Nebulos, severalHeadmastersleft behind their heads, the ones they were sporting during their departure being duplicates housing theirbinary bonded partners. When news reached Nebulos that the brave Autobot warriors among them had died in battle, scientists sought to bring them back to life by building new bodies for the original heads. Borx led the project, but his team met with difficulty through the procedures. The first bodies they built were rejected by the heads, causing the Autobots excruciating pain before they shut back down. Borx nonetheless remained optimistic on his impending success, especially after integrating data found in the headquarters of former Decepticon Headmaster,Lord Zarak, into a new set of bodies.Loose Ends, Part 2

Unfortunately for Borx, Zarak had installed a ghost protocol in his systems that detected any unauthorised decryption and re-awakened the head ofScorponok, who swiftly mesmerised the Nebulan population and took over Project Lazarus for himself. There, he also developed aGene Keycapable of turning Autobots into Decepticons.Natural Selection, Part OneBorx's classified reports would eventually find their way toGrimlock, who journeyed to Nebulos in the hopes of regaining his ability to transform through the advances Borx and his team pioneered, however on arriving on Nebulos he was overpowered by the hypnotised population and captured by Scorponok.Loose Ends, Part 2After forging an alliance of sorts, Scorponok and Grimlock left Nebulos for Cybertron, along with the revived HeadmastersHardhead,HighbrowandBrainstorm—now converted to Scorponok's cause with the Gene Key. Once Scorponok had been defeated, the Autobots on Cybertron sent specialised teams to Nebulos to help treat the planet's traumatised people.

No longer under Scorponok's control, Borx returned to Project Lazarus and successfully separatedChromedomeandStylor, the latter going on to reintegrate back into Nebulan society. He had also made a great deal of progress towards restoringFortress Maximusto life, as he cheerfully explained toQuickmixwhile they oversaw theConstruction Patrolbuilding aspace bridgein theClar Macro-jungle.The War to End All Wars, Part 1Borx returned to theTechnodrometo begin work on Fort Max's torso reintegration, little knowing that his head had been corrupted by a fragment of theDark Matrixand that once attached, the giant Autobot would be under its control. The War to End All Wars, Part 2Somehow, Borx survived that and after the Dark Matrix's twin threats of Fortress Maximus andGalvatronhad been dealt with, he was amongst the first to greet a delegation ofhumansfromEarth, now united with Nebulos by the space bridge. The War to End All Wars, Part 5

Beast Wars: Uprising

Fausto Borxwas a Nebulon scientist working for theHivenations when his people allied themselves with the Decepticons. He found a kindred spirit inZarak, leader of the Decepticoninfiltration protocolunit, and through their experiments they unlocked the key to theHeadmasterprocess. Decepticons and Hive operatives became binary bonded partners opposing the Autobots.

The fighting escalated on Nebulos as both sides developed Headmaster andTargetmastertechnology. Fausto and Zarak then pushed further by creating a double-Headmaster, bonding with each other and then the entire city ofKinodia, reshaping it intoMegaZarak. They were confronted by the humanSpikeand his binary-bonded Autobot partner,Cerebros, who created their own double-Headmaster namedFortress Maximus.Spike's son,Daniel, had married Fausto's daughterLlyraduring the Nebulos conflict, and she became involved in the final battle, splitting MegaZarak's attention. Fausto was killed in the conflict, and Zarak and the Decepticons were driven off of Nebulos.A Brush With Infamy–Prologue

Notes

  • Borx is a complicated example of name reuse. Borx ofRegeneration Onewas a generic Nebulan scientist.FaustoBorx from theUprisingtimeline, however, holds several elements of theGeneration 1Zarak,such as being a double Headmaster from the Hive with a daughter named Llyra. Here, Zarak is the name of the Decepticon Headmaster Borx is binary-bonded with, which was apparently used instead of the traditional "Scorponok" so thatBeast WarsScorponokcould have the name without it being a reused name. The multiverse is a complicated place.
  • UprisingBorx's first name is a reference to the old Germanic legend ofFaust. It's a story about a very smart man who sells his soul to the devil for power and material gain, only to end up losing everything that really matters and damning himself to Hell. Symbolism!
